What's my share? - Fraction Basics
Grade 4 Level | Option of 2 & 3 Classes a Week
Courses starting every Monday and Thursday
This basic course of fractions, takes forward the basic understanding of fractions to a broader view of fractions where they first learn to generate equivalent fractions without models and then move towards exploring fractions greater than 1.
They are now introduced to the concept of mixed numbers with the help of a variety of visual models and real-life contexts. They even learn how to rewrite mixed numbers as improper fractions and improper fractions as mixed numbers with and without models.
Their basic understanding of comparing like fractions is taken forward to comparing unlike fractions and even benchmark fractions. By the end of the course, students will have a strong understanding of all the basic concepts of fractions which will serve as a base for operations on fractions.
This lesson takes forward the understanding of equivalent fractions. The students will now learn to generate equivalent fractions without models.
Students often believe that fractions are always less than 1 because they are thinking about a fraction of 1 whole. This lesson gives them a broader view of fractions and introduces them the concept of improper fractions.
This lesson extends students understanding of fractions greater than 1 by introducing them to mixed numbers with the help of visual models. It also teaches them how to rewrite mixed numbers as improper fractions and improper fractions as mixed numbers
This lesson goes deeper into comparison of fractions. It teaches the students how to compare unlike fractions by either using benchmark fractions or by finding a common denominator using the concept of equivalent fractions.

Our math tutors are certified educators with years of teaching experience. Each of them has been hand-picked for their innovative teaching styles, the ability to tailor their lessons according to different learning needs, and their main superpower - making math fun.
The classes will be conducted on the specific topics independently of the progress in school. Math tutor will therefore not be able to assist your child with their homework.
Our tutors are capable of keeping the children engaged and learning on their own. Most parents attend just the first class and prefer to let their child learn independently for the rest of the course.
Yes, you will need a computer or tablet with a webcam, mic, and speakers to attend the classes. Also, remember to keep a whiteboard and marker (or blank sheets and pen) handy for practice during the class.

Each class is around 45-minutes long. Sometimes if the tutor needs more time to wrap up what they’re teaching, it can take a few minutes longer.
